Uni is not for me

Life does not come with an instruction manual, a play book or a receipt so you can take it back when it falls apart. This reality can make life pretty scary, or it can make is really exciting. If there are no instructions, no rules, no play by play routines, then surely that means we can do what we think is right for ourselves?

Yup! How cool is that?!

Awesome! But, how do I know what is right for myself?

Ahhhh, ain’t that the million dollar question. And in case you are wondering, I don’t have the million dollar answer. But I can tell you that finding out what is best for you is the best part of your life.

So you are at school now and you are wondering about what you might do when you finish year 12. The idea of going to university is not sitting well with you. You can’t imagine yourself doing more study. You’re keen to learn new skills or even a trade and get out into the workforce.

Those options are available to you and you can start that journey in year 10. I recommend having a chat to your school careers advisor. Many schools have partnerships with various providers and they can work a training program into your weekly school timetable. This career conversation could be the beginning of an exciting journey. But if you are not ready to talk to anyone about this yet, then there are some links below to help you start your own research, which builds your career awareness. If you see something you like, then you can start those conversations with your parents, carers and school so you can start mapping your journey.
